Update: 2017 Individual Medicare administrative fee payments

We recently started processing and paying administrative fees for January 2017 enrollments submitted during the Annual Election Period (AEP). Information on administrative fee payments can be found in the Aetna Medicare Producer Guide and in Appendix A of your 2017 Aetna Medicare Marketing Agreement (i.e., contract). Rates are in the Schedule 1 attached to your contract. Next Round of In-force Rate Action Notifications to Take Place in Late December

In late December, we will begin policyholder notifications on the next round of John Hancock and Fortis policies impacted by the in-force rate actions, which will have an effective date beginning with anniversaries on or after March 1, 2017. We will continue the implementation of the 2013 rate increase for John Hancock LTCI individual policies originally issued in Arkansas and Oregon for policyholders who have received an initial “capped” or “phased-in” increase. “About 172,000 of the affected enrollees made active decisions about their long-term care insurance benefits by the Sept. 30 decision deadline. About 96,000, or 56 percent, chose to keep their monthly premiums the same by accepting a lower level of long-term care insurance coverage. Another 40 percent agreed to pay higher premiums to keep their long-term care insurance coverage the same. Just 3.3 percent chose to stop paying premiums for long-term care insurance coverage.
