At American General Life Insurance Company (AGL), our first priority is the welfare of our customers. In response to challenges created for Florida residents by Hurricane Irma, we are working with state regulators to support affected clients during this difficult time.
Effectively immediately, a temporary suspension is in effect on lapses, terminations, cancellations and other time-sensitive provision requirements of the insurance policies or annuity contracts for all insured AGL customers residing in the state of Florida. This suspension includes all counties in the state.
This action is taken to protect the policyholders from unintentional termination. We will process other requests to help them in as timely a manner as possible. The temporary suspension applies from August 25, 2017, and run through October 16, 2017.
In addition to the temporary suspension, any time limit under a policy, contract, law, notice, or any other source for a policy owner or insured to do something related to a policy or contract is extended from September 4, 2017 through December 4, 2017.
If an insured does not receive a notice regarding the lapse, termination, cancellation or other time-sensitive provisions of their policy or contract, they should contact our customer service center at the numbers listed below.
Our goal is to take care of our customers. We encourage insureds living in Florida to contact their agents or our customer service center should they have any questions regarding their insurance policies or annuity contracts.
