Elderlaw attorneys’ criticism of private LTC insurance displays their rank hypocrisy. Medicaid planning to artificially impoverish their affluent clients landed those clients in welfare-financed nursing homes vulnerable to the Covid-19 contagion. If they’d had long-term care insurance instead, if they’d listened to their LTCI advisor instead, those Medicaid planning clients now trapped in nursing homes would have had choices of care venue and control over their lives and health.
