2023 Alabama Rate Information for AARP® Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans: Effective June 1, 2023

2023 Alabama premium rate information is now available for AARP^® Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans, insured by UnitedHealthcare^® Insurance Company.

Effective June 1, 2023, the rates in Alabama will change. Please click on the buttons below to view rates for new enrollees with initial plan effective dates of June 1, 2023 to May 1, 2024.

Member Billing Information
Updated billing materials will be sent to members soon and will include a letter notifying the member of their new monthly premium payment (including any applicable discounts). View the two versions of the letter:

• Coupon payer letter
• Electronic File Transfer (EFT) payer letter

WHAT’S NEW? MULTI-INSURED DISCOUNT EXPANSION Great news, Alabama! Starting June 1, 2023, insured members will see a multi-insured discount increase from 7% to 10%. That’s 10% off the monthly premium if two insured members are on the same AARP membership household account and each is insured under an AARP-branded supplemental plan policy with UnitedHealthcare. This discount will be available to both new enrollees and current insured members. Those enrolled prior to June 1, 2010 will continue to see a 5% discount. For a complete list of available discounts, please see the state-specific Producer Handbook. RATING AREAS Beginning June 1, 2023, area rating is being introduced for new and current insured members with plan effective dates of June 1, 2010 or later. With area rating, all insureds in the same rate class, in the same area, pay the same rate (excludes discounts and surcharges). This means rates within a state will vary by geographic region, identified by zip code. Michigan will now have three rating areas, allowing for more targeted rates. Please find the updated zip code listing in the rate pages.

• AARP Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans’ monthly premium generally changes once a year unless discounts change or wear off.
• Use LEAN^™ for an easy enrollment experience or continue to use the current Alabama Enrollment Kit until new ones become available, remembering to quote the applicable rate based on the requested plan effective date.
