Suppressing Personally Identifiable Information from Genworth Reporting

As part of our ongoing commitment and obligation to protect our customers and our distribution partners, we continue pursuing initiatives to improve the protection of our customer’s data and ensure we are complying with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and other consumer information protection acts and data security best practices. As part of that commitment, we are going to immediately begin suppressing Personally Identifiable Information (PII) in our recurring and ad-hoc reporting that are distributed to you.

PII that will no longer be included in reports that Genworth sends to Distribution Partners includes the following:

  • Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Street Address
  • Phone Number
  • Email Address

We currently do not include, and will continue to exclude, Social Security Number, Bank/Credit Card Numbers, Driver’s License and other Sensitive Customer Information in reports to Distribution Partners.

Policy numbers will still be included in reports and can be used Genworth.com/PRO to look up single record details regarding your client’s policy.

This initiative and change does not impact any system to system transfers of data between Genworth and Distribution Partners. This is only addressing the reports that are shared from Genworth that generally come in the form of Excel and PDF documents and are typically shared via email.

This will be a phased approach beginning immediately, and anticipate all changes completed by September 1, 2018.

We recognize that this may cause inefficiencies and inconveniences for you. However, we appreciate your cooperation and commitment in keeping customer data safe.
