Long-Term Care Insurance (LTCi) Training Requirements for New Mexico Producers

Effective immediately, an individual may not sell, solicit, or negotiate long-term care insurance unless the individual is appropriately licensed and has completed a one-time long-term care training course. The individual must also complete ongoing training after the completion of the one-time long-term care training course.

The one-time long-term care training course must not be less than 8 hours and the ongoing training must not be less than 4 hours ever 2-year continuing review period after the completion of the one-time long-term care training course.

  • Producers licensed on or before February 27, 2018 have until February 27, 2019 to complete the 8-hour one-time long-term care training course. Producers licensed after February 27, 2018, must complete the 8-hour one-time long-term care training course prior to solicitation.

Reciprocity is available for non-resident producers who take initial and refresher courses in other states that satisfy the New Mexico requirements. Resident producers must take a New Mexico course.
