What makes Mutual of Omaha’s LTCi underwriting different? Instead of looking for reasons to deny an applicant, we actually search for ways to issue your business.

Our underwriters believe your clients are more than a list of diagnoses. So, they look at everything, including the person’s health, cognitive status and lifestyle. That means even if your client has a chronic health condition but is physically and socially active and working with a physician to control the health issue, they may still qualify for coverage.

It all starts with you. Here’s what you can do to help ensure your LTCi cases can be issued:

  • Know the Guidelines — Familiarize yourself with our underwriting guidelines so you can be on the lookout for red flags that could make an applicant ineligible for coverage. Download the underwriting guide.
  • Tell Us Everything You Can — The more information you share about an applicant, the better the chance for a positive underwriting outcome.
  • Prequalify Your Applicants — Submit your request for prequalification via email by 2 p.m. Central Time and you’ll have an answer by 5 p.m. the same day. Be sure to include the applicant’s height and weight, medications taken, disclosed health conditions and tobacco status plus anything else you think the underwriter should know.
