Underwriting Update
Since the Washington Cares Fund has generated a large influx of LTC business, we wanted to provide you with an update on our processing times and expectations. Normally, most cases have an underwriting decision reached within 45 to 60 days. Due to the increase of Washington State applications, you may instead see underwriting decisions take 55 to 70 days.
There are some underwriting decisions that may exceed the 70-day timeframe because of factors beyond our control, such as difficulty obtaining medical records, or in rare instances, applicants who are unwilling to conduct an interview. With these types of cases, we will ask the agency who submitted them to assist us in resolving the issue.
It is our goal to get all Washington State applications submitted on or before August 9, 2021, issued before the November 1, 2021, deadline and to process all other states in the timeframe listed above. Our employees who support the underwriting effort are currently working overtime and weekends to make this possible. Due to the volume of applications received by August 9, 2021, any business submitted after that date may not be finalized by November 1, 2021.
For those of you who are not yet seeing a submitted case on the new business system, we are working diligently to get all cases data entered as soon as possible. We expect to be caught up and adding new cases to the system the same day they are received the week of August 30, 2021.
We thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. On September 15, 2021, and October 1, 2021, you will be updated on the progress we have made with our pending LTC case volume.
