Washington State Underwriting Update

We are pleased to announce that we are making good progress with Washington State applications. All cases submitted in good order are under review or actively being underwritten with completed prescription drug check reports and medical records on order.

Telephone interviews
Due to the volume of applications received our normal timing of telephone interviews is delayed. Please be assured that all interviews will take place in an orderly fashion. The applications received in the last two weeks of accepting Washington State business are experiencing the most delays. We ask for your patience in those cases.

When an interviewer calls and does not reach the applicant, they will provide a call back number to a scheduler who can arrange for another contact.

Joint application cases
In joint application cases where one applicant is declined, we ask that you confirm if we should continue underwriting for the other applicant. If the second applicant is not interested without their partner, we can save time and effort by closing the case.

In joint cases where we reach the decline/approve decisions at the same time we will assume we should issue the insurable person an individual policy. Again, we ask that you tell us is if we should not issue the policy if there is a decline on one of the individuals.

Washington Cares Trust Act Survey

The National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA), has created a survey for those producers affected by the recent changes in Washington State. If you have been affected by these changes you are strongly encouraged to take it.

This completely anonymous survey takes less than five minutes to complete. The results will be used in advocacy efforts in Washington and other states pursuing a similar route.
