This feature-length documentary explores the resilience and perspective of Chris Norton, a college athlete who sustained a debilitating spinal cord injury during a football game in October 2010 that left him with a 3% chance of regaining feeling below his neck.

Norton is a Mutual of Omaha policyholder through his affiliation with the NCAA. Although Chris’s special risk policy is not available to the general public, his story is a strong example of the company’s commitment to serving our customers. Mutual of Omaha is the title sponsor of the “7 Yards” film, which is a story of hope in the face of adversity, featuring powerful interviews, emotional re-enactments and documentation of his journey.

In 2015, Norton’s story went viral when he successfully walked across the graduation stage to receive his college diploma with the help of his fiancée, Emily, with more than 300 million views. The story grew when Chris walked down the aisle with his bride in April 2018. The wedding was featured in People magazine and was the most-viewed feature of all time.
