"A four-hour refresher course must be completed every 2 years from the date the initial training was completed."

"As hard as it may be to accept, it could make sense to pay the higher rate if you can still afford it. Buying a similar policy would likely cost far more now, and the same level of coverage is often not available (if you’re even still insurable). ‘It’s technically still a deal relative to what coverage costs today,’ said Michael Kitces, director of wealth management at Pinnacle Advisory and publisher of the Nerd’s Eye View blog."

Over the past few weeks you’ve learned the basics about long-term care post issue requirements (PIRs). Now we'll cover outstanding premium, with important things to note so that the post-issue requirements can be met as quickly as possible.
 


Rate Adjustments Effective October 2019
 
Mutual of Omaha will be implementing rate adjustments in Colorado, effective October 1, 2019.
 
Policyholders will receive a letter notifying them at least 60 days prior to the premium rate increase. The effective date of the premium rate increase will be listed in this notification. Notification to all affected policyholders was sent beginning August 1, 2019 to ensure policyholders in the approved states receive notification of their October 1, 2019 premium rate increase.

Mutual of Omaha will be implementing rate adjustments in Connecticut and Florida, effective November 1, 2019.
 
Policyholders will receive a letter notifying them at least 60 days prior to the premium rate increase. The effective date of the premium rate increase will be listed in this notification. Notification to all affected policyholders will be sent beginning September 1, 2019 to ensure policyholders in the approved states receive notification of their November 1, 2019 premium rate increase.

Policyholders will receive a letter notifying them at least 90 days prior to the premium rate increase. The effective date of the premium rate increase will be listed in this notification. Notification to all affected policyholders will be sent beginning September 1, 2019 to ensure policyholders in the approved states receive notification of their December 1, 2019 premium rate increase.
 


The LTC Rider is Now Approved in the District of Columbia
 
On September 1, agents selling in the District of Columbia will now have an additional option to help meet clients’ long-term care planning needs. The new Long-Term Care Rider will be available for you on our Income Advantage and Life Protection Advantage Indexed Universal Life (IUL) insurance policies.
 


New Lower GULE Rates
 
On October 1, 2019, we will be making Guaranteed Universal Life (GULE) even more competitive, with rate decreases between 5 and 30 percent! That’s not all, we will also be increasing the maximum issue age for non-tobacco to age 70 as well as updating the face amounts.
 


Initial Premium Bank Draft Update
 
The recent technical issue with our initial premium payment drafts have been fixed. Bank drafts for initial premium are now functioning correctly.

Effective 8/29, several enhancements were made to the EssentialLTC E-APP, including clarity on where to enter the Primary Care Physician's information and allowing the premium mode selection to carry through to other E-APP sections.
