LIMRA reports the best new lives and new premiums numbers since 2012
 
"The drop in new U.S. stand-alone long-term care insurance sales might be starting to bottom out.  LIMRA says premium revenue from sales of new, stand-alone individual long-term care insurance policies amounted to $117 million in the first half of the year.  That was down 8 percent from the total for the first half of 2015, but the LIMRA first-half long-term care insurance sales revenue total sank 17 percent to 30 percent each year from 2013 through 2015."

Disaster Relief Notices for Indiana, Louisiana and Maryland
 
Indiana
Due to severe storms and tornados in Indiana, a State of Emergency has been declared for the following counties: Allen, Howard, Miami, Montgomery and St Joseph. The State of Emergency went into effective on August 15, 2016.

 
Louisiana
Due to the historic flooding in Louisiana a State of Emergency has been declared by the Governor for a number of parishes (click above for complete list). The State of Emergency went into effect on August 12, 2016 and will continue through September 12, 2016.

 
Maryland
Due to the recent flooding in Maryland, Governor Larry Hogan issued a State of Emergency for Howard county located in zip codes 21041, 21042 and 21043. The state of emergency went into effective on July 31, 2016.

 
Mutual of Omaha policyholders will be afforded a longer grace period to accept payments, notices and cancellations.

Prescription Drug Exclusion List Has Been Updated
 
The prescription drug exclusion list for Term Life Express and Guaranteed Universal Life Express has been updated. Please note this list is not an all-inclusive drug list.
 


NEW Cancer, Heart Attack and Stroke Product to Release Sept. 7, 2016 in Massachusetts
 
On September 7th, 2016 Mutual of Omaha will be releasing a new Cancer portfolio: New Beginnings in Massachusetts. New Beginnings is a cancer, heart attack and stroke insurance policy that provides a lump-sum benefit upon diagnosis.
 
Please review the following communication regarding the mandatory training in Massachusetts.
 


Massachusetts State Release for Cancer, Heart Attack and Stroke Training Requirement
 
The Massachusetts training will be available in Sales Professional Access (SPA) under the Training & Compliance tab, in the Protect Your Business section, starting September 7th, 2016.
This training must be completed prior to submitting any application. Any applications submitted without completing the training will be rejected.

 

 

 

Making it Easier than Ever to Obtain an LTC Underwriting Quick Quote
 
John Hancock has announced that a new toll-free number is available for agents to call in order to obtain an LTC Quick Quote. The new toll-free number is 844-316-2411, available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern Time.
 
Agents may also continue to submit requests by email: LTCquickquote@jhancock.com. You'll receive a tentative underwriting risk assessment within 24 hours.
 

 

 

Updates to New Business Procedures
 
Genworth has made significant improvements this year, and we continue to work hard on what needs to be done to achieve our future goals.
 
We are currently building the infrastructure to provide an electronic experience from application to policy delivery that simplifies your transactions and provides significantly faster cycle times.
 
On the road to achieving this electronic experience, we must make incremental changes along the way. These changes will enable us to build the platforms needed to provide this new level of service.
Some of the changes needed will be made on October 3, 2016 and are outlined on page two of the announcement.

Based on state regulations, Genworth uses guidelines to determine compensation on LTCI issued policies in the following states: Alabama, California, Delaware, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

Due to the increasing cost of coverage, it's necessary to increase premiums. As such, starting September 7, Transamerica will begin mailing letters to notify impacted customers about the increases.
