Rate Adjustments Effective January 1, 2017
 
Mutual of Omaha will be implementing rate adjustments in Illinois, Montana, Texas and West Virginia effective January 1, 2017
 
Policyholders will receive a letter notifying them at least 60 days prior to the premium rate increase. The effective date of the premium rate increase will be listed in this notification. Notification to all affected policyholders will be mailed by November 1, 2016 to ensure policyholders in the approved states receive notification of their January 1, 2017 premium rate increase.
 

 

 

Is Hospital Indemnity Checked?
 
Remember to BRING HIP UP during AEP appointments! Important reminders:
 
1)  Make sure you have the Hospital Indemnity Plan box checked on the signed Scope of Appointment form prior to the appointment. Follow any other applicable government and carrier specific guidelines.
 
2)  If your Scope of Appointment form does not have Hospital Indemnity Products listed, make sure to wait at least 48 hours after your AEP meeting before talking to clients about Advantage Plus.
 
3)  If the purpose of your client meeting is to only talk about Advantage Plus, then no Scope of Appointment form is needed.

China Oceanwide To Acquire Genworth Financial
 
"RICHMOND, Va. and BEIJING, Oct. 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- China Oceanwide Holdings Group Co., Ltd. ("China Oceanwide") and Genworth Financial, Inc. (NYSE: GNW) ("Genworth") today announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement under which China Oceanwide has agreed to acquire all of the outstanding shares of Genworth for a total transaction value of approximately $2.7 billion, or $5.43 per share in cash. The acquisition will be completed through Asia Pacific Global Capital Co. Ltd., one of China Oceanwide's investment platforms. The transaction is subject to approval by Genworth's stockholders as well as other closing conditions, including the receipt of required regulatory approvals."
 


 
Genworth’s 2016 Commission Year-End Pay Schedule
 
Genworth is closed for the holidays on Friday, December 23rd, Monday, December 26th, and Monday, January 2nd. Commission payments will be distributed as follows:

  • Daily EFT and DTCC(NSCC)
    • Fixed life/fixed annuities - Tuesday, December 27th, 2016
    • Variable life/variable annuities - Tuesday, December 27th, 2016
  • Weekly EFT and DTCC(NSCC)
    • Fixed life/fixed annuities - Tuesday, December 27th, 2016
    • Long term care insurance - Tuesday, December 27th, 2016
    • Variable life/variable annuities - Tuesday, December 27th, 2016
  • Checks - Tuesday, December 27th, 2016
  • Genworth will resume normal commission payments January 3rd, 2017

December 16, 2016: Deadline for Long Term Care New Business Requirements
 
As the year comes to a close and to optimize your 2016 placed production, please keep in mind that the year-end cutoff for new business is December 16, 2016.
 
Genworth's final commission cycle will be on December 23, 2016 for all Long Term Care Insurance.

Commissions: 1099-MISC 2016 Tax Information
 
Important information about 1099-MISC (miscellaneous income) tax forms:

  • A 1099-MISC will be filed for each person who is paid at least $600 in commissions in 2016. This includes all product lines.
  • 1099-MISC forms will be mailed directly to each person no later than January 31, 2017.
  • Some payments are not required to be reported on this form, although they may be taxable to the recipient. For example, commissions paid to a corporation are not required to be reported via a 1099-MISC.
  • 1099-MISC forms will be mailed to the resident address of the producer if one is on file.

This year's Medicare Advantage Annual Election Period (AEP) and the Medicare Advantage Disenrollment Period (MADP) are upon us. Annual enrollment runs from October 15th to December 7th.

 
We know you're busy, so here is a quick reference list to get you through some of the situations you may face.
 


Procedure Update for Duplicate Life Insurance Policy Contract Requests
 
The purpose of the bulletin is to communicate to all general agents and producers selling across all business alignments of a modification in Transamerica's procedure.
 
To obtain a duplicate life insurance policy contract, it will be required for policy owners to complete a written request and pay $25 in the form of check or money order. This can be completed via letter of instruction that contains the policy owner's signature, policy number, and must be dated.
 


Medicare Supplement Insurance product is now available in Virginia
 
Effective October 14, 2016, the Medicare Supplement Insurance product is now available for Virginia. We provide Medicare Supplement insurance that can help clients manage their out-of-pocket medical expenses.
 
Please Note: The e-app for Virginia is currently not available at this time.
 
Quoting capability will be available on the illustration software and the Medicare Supplement Mobile Rate Calculator.
 

 

 

United Security Assurance Now Accepting Faxed Applications With Voided Checks
 
We've just made it easier for agents to submit new business. United Security Assurance is now accepting faxed applications with voided checks! Effective immediately, you may fax your application to our Souderton home office from your computer or fax machine.
 
Here's what you need to know:

  • Dedicated, Toll-Free Fax Number: 888-976-5969 - use this number to send only applications and related underwriting information.
  • Faxed applications must be completed, clean, and legible - if we are not able to read the information, we will contact you and may need for you to mail the original application.
  • Be sure to keep the original copy of the application for your files.
  • Fax the client's voided check with a signed authorization for bank draft or a signed credit card authorization (LSS/Select plans only).
  • We will also accept faxed applications with initial premium checks mailed.
  • United Security Assurance will deduct 2 months premium and the one-time $25.00 policy fee from your client's account after policy has been issued and we've received the policy delivery receipt.
