Remembering Wild Kingdom's Jim Fowler
Remembering Jim Fowler
Jim Fowler — naturalist, explorer, wildlife expert and star of Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom — has passed away. Jim passed away peacefully on May 8, at the age of 89.
Jim was known to generations as co-host and later host of
Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom. He was also a favorite guest on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson and wildlife correspondent on NBC’s Today Show.
Jim was a true wildlife icon and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Holiday Telephone Solicitation Bans for the Month of June 2019
Please be aware of the following telephone solicitation bans for the month of June.

  • On Monday, June 3, 2019: Louisiana prohibits unsolicited marketing calls to residents in observance of Confederate Memorial Day
  • On Monday, June 3, 2019: Alabama prohibits unsolicited marketing calls to residents in observance of Jefferson Davis Day

California Fair Claims Settlement Practices Regulation
The state of California requires that insurers communicate standards for the prompt handling of claims to all individuals that may be in contact with our customers and could receive notice of a claim.
On an annual basis, the company’s Chief Compliance Officer must certify compliance with the California Fair Claims Settlement Practices regulations. Although you do not process claims, you play a very important role in supporting the Claims area to meet the standards set by California. This communication is intended to serve as a reminder of the California requirements.

LTC Cost of Care Tools Updated with 2018 Numbers
We've seen a 650% increase in long-term care costs over the past 14 years. As you'll see in our newly updated Cost of Care Study, prices continue to rise in every US state, for every level of care.
With these statistics, the evidence is clear: long-term care insurance is essential to protect the financial future of your clients and their families.

LTCi Shared Care Rider
If your clients are concerned about what will happen if they use all their LTCi benefits but still need care, be sure to tell them about shared care. The Shared Care Benefit is a valuable optional rider that is available on both the Secure and Custom long-term care policies, which may provide peace of mind if their benefits run out.

Rate Adjustments Effective August 2019
Mutual of Omaha will be implementing rate adjustments in Colorado, effective August 1, 2019
Policyholders will receive a letter notifying them at least 60 days prior to the premium rate increase. The effective date of the premium rate increase will be listed in this notification. Notification to all affected policyholders will be mailed by June 1, 2019 to ensure policyholders in the approved states receive notification of their August 1, 2019 premium rate increase.

Rate Adjustments Effective September 2019

Update on the Critical Advantage Rate Decrease for New Applications
Washington can offer the products in the Critical Advantage portfolio with a 20% rate cut starting June 1, 2019. Your WA clients will get the same great coverage for less money, which could mean more sales for you.

Critical Advantage Rate Decrease for Existing Policyholders
More states have approved the Critical Advantage rate decrease of 20% for current policyholders. Effective July 1, 2019, the following states will have the new lower rates: Arkansas, Indiana and Massachusetts.
