"More Seniors with Dementia Living at Home: What You Need to Know," by Roz Plater, Healthline
"The researchers used data from the National Health and Aging Trends Study, which is a representative sample of people on Medicare. They studied 728 seniors who had received a diagnosis with moderately severe dementia in a five-year period, between 2012 and 2016. Within the group, 64 percent were cared for at home; 19 percent in residential care, such as assisted living; and 17 percent were in a nursing home. The researchers said seniors being cared for at home had more chronic illnesses and were more likely to have anxiety as well as be in fair to poor health."

Kemper Reports Strong Second Quarter 2019 Operating Results
CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Kemper Corporation (NYSE: KMPR) reported net income of $122.1 million, or $1.84 per diluted share, for the second quarter of 2019, compared to $37.6 million, or $0.73 per diluted share, for the second quarter of 2018. In the second quarter of 2019, net income included a $20.1 million after-tax gain, or $0.30 per diluted share, attributable to the change in fair value of equity and convertible securities. As adjusted for the acquisition of Infinity Property and Casualty Corporation (“as adjusted”)1, net income was $126.3 million, or $1.90 per diluted share, for the second quarter of 2019, compared to $65.4 million, or $1.00 per diluted share, for the second quarter of 2018.



Additional Endorsement added to Massachusetts EssentialLTC Policies
Effective immediately, an Alternate Plan of Care Endorsement will now be included in all EssentialLTC policies issued in the state of Massachusetts.
Additionally, for policyholders who already have an active Massachusetts EssentialLTC policy, a letter including this endorsement will be sent letting the policyholder(s) know their existing EssentialLTC policy now includes this provision and to keep the enclosed copy of the endorsement with their policy.
